EVANGELISM
What does it all mean?  Simply put,  communicating the message of Jesus Christ  everywhere. His first sermon in Mark 1:15 called people to Repent and Believe the Gospel. And His last instructions to His followers before returning back to heaven is found in Luke 24: 47 ... It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.'

Alarming Statistics...
In his book The Coming Revival, Bill Bright reported that "only two percent of believers in America regularly share their faith in Christ with others"(NewLife Publications, p. 65). In the March/April 1993 American Horizon, disclosed the fact that in 1991, 11,500 churches of a major U.S. denomination had obtained 294,784 decisions for Christ. Unfortunately, they could find only 14,337 in fellowship. They couldn't account for 280,000 of their decisions.

 Step # 1 - PRAY

Payer is foundational to any evangelism effort. Paul reminds Timothy of these principles for the church in 1 Timothy 2:1-4.  Since it's God's desire that all come to know Him, these instructions begin with prayer. Can we expect anything different? of course not. So before we seek to go out to witness as a group or alone let us bathe our plans, and offering of service to Christ in prayer, that He will anoint us as instruments in reaching the lost for His kingdom.

At Bloomingdale Alliance we use a menu approach to Outreach & Evangelism. We offer entry level stages into the following ministries: Seed Sowers , Servant Evangelism Events, Open Air Campaigning, & The Sonshine Crew.

Each of these ministries take place away from the church throughout the year. Each ministry is a tool to meet and break the ice with the lost and earn an opportunity to communicate the Gospel. The need for evangelism workers is great, as it has always been for the last 2000 years. Yet Christ expects His followers to still go out and win the lost biblically.

From time to time we offer specialized training in utilizing Gospel tracts, administering evangelistic questionnaires, and paint sketching that all lead to sharing the Gospel. We study and share methods of how to approach and share Christ's love in practical ways in public. The following are these minitries.

•           Seed Sowers
is a team that meets on the last Sunday of each month. We usally have lunch immediately after the Sunday worship service, and get on the road to a nearby location, where we will hand out Gospel tracts, and share the Gospel when the opportunity avails itself. We also strategically leave behind tracts in places where people would visit, laundry mats, phone booths, rest rooms, restaurant foyers to name a few. So come along for some OTJT (on the job training), and check the events link on the right for dates and times and join us as we reach out to the lost.

•           Servant Evangelism .. is a team that goes out into communities and show the love of Christ by doing acts of kindest to strangers.  It may be a cold bottle of water give-a-way on a hot summer afternoon, or 9 volt battery give-a-way for smoke detectors in a housing community. Every gift left behind is accompanied by a church contact card. So come along for some OTJT (on the job training), and check the events link on the right for dates and times and join us as we reach out to the lost.

•
Open Air Campaigning - Is a team that goes out to public areas to meet either adults or children and present a short presentation utilizing a paint sketch board game, followed by an illusion object lesson, and an evangelistic paint sketch story calling adults, youth and children to repent and believe the Gospel. (For children we add a Bible action song and prizes). So come along for some OTJT (on the job training) and check the events link on the right for dates and times and join us as we reach out to the lost.

•
SONSHINE CREW is a team that visits the retirement / assisted living and nursing home facilities in the area and brings a balance of encouragement to the saved residents and an evangelistic message to the lost residents. We sing, play a Bible based game, read God's word, pray, and fellowship together. Everyone on the team takes an active part with residents. So come along for some OTJT (on the job training) and check the events link on the right for dates and times and join us as we reach out to the lost.

If you want to know more about how to biblically share the Gospel, please contact Pastor Joe and a training session can be scheduled.

We go where the fish gather - into communities, into the public to share Christ's love in practical ways and to creatively present the Gospel in a Christ honoring way.

Dear Friend,

Telling someone else the Good News of Jesus Christ is one of the greatest privileges I know, for when others hear, repent, and believe the Gospel, their lives are changed forever. Join us as we share the message of Jesus Christ  ( the GOSPEL), for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes (Romans 1:16).

Sincerely,

Joe Ortiz
